Back from European eTwinning Conference in Bucharest

March 24, 2008 · No Comments

I have been in Bucharest this last weekend to the Annual European eTwinning Conference. (www.eTwinning.net) I was running workshops on using ‘Flashmeeting’ (http://flashmeeting.e2bn.net)  the webcam video conferencing tool, promoting its use for European school collaboration. This session also included a presentation on a collaborative on line magazine production tool (magazine factory) Thomas Maier from European Schoolsnet demontrated the use of Blogs, wikis and podcasting. Lots of interesting sessions over the weekend and time to meet and network with colleagues. It was great to meet colleagues with such exciting ideas for using ICT tools in the classroom to enhance teaching and learning. Particular reference to Joe Dale, whom it was great to meet up with him again. He’s an inspirational blogger and podcaster with lots of ideas for using ICT in MFL teaching. I can recommend his blog. http://http://joedale.typepad.com/integrating_ict_into_the_// Well worth a look.

My school features in an article in Feb edition of SecEd magazine

February 24, 2008 · 3 Comments

Have a look at the article. Here Well worth the read. It is about the European Commission eTwinning initiative which is targetted at getting schools across Europe linking together for activities using ICT !   Our school is mentioned as we were runners up in the competition awarded at the etwinning Conference in Nottingham 2007.  Our entry was based on our eTwinning link with a school in Norway using video conferencing technology.  A free tool called Flashmeeting using webcam conferencing desighned by the Open University in the UK and hosted by my regional broadband network (E2bn) and set up for Free school use

I now have a role as an eTwinning Ambassador for the British Council to promote eTwinning and Comenius Projects in schools. I also coordinate the use of this flashmeeting tool for schools across Europe. If you are interested in knowing more about this tool or the projects mentioned above get in touch. I can provide support or INSET for schools, groups and teacher conference workshops.
